GRASSROOTS LEAGUE FUN
CMSA Grassroots League games are in full swing and our U7-U9 players could not be happier!
What is the Grassroots League?
Each club divides their age groups into mini teams of 4-6 players. These mini teams play back to back short games in a festival format vs local opposition. This format is different to typical league play where teams would traditionally just play one opponent.
“The CMSA Grassroots League, modeled after Canada Soccer’s Skill Centre Program, strives to provide children with an age and stage appropriate playing environment that allows expression, creativity, and development to flourish. Game day matches provide players with more time on the field, more time on the ball and flexible match ups through an open roster system to provide meaningful competition each and every game.” - Calgary Minor Soccer Association
Why we love it?
The 3v3 - 4v4 playing formats has increased ball contact time and allowed our Frontier players to further develop their technical foundation
Game days and times are local and consistent making scheduling easier for families
The open roster format has helped ensure that our players are challenged every game. Players can move between fields to ensure games are competitive and match ups are even
Our players love playing multiple teams on the same day. The number of teams, coaches and spectators make for a vibrant atmosphere!
